Meet the Impressionists

This project was suggested by a clip of 1915 footage featuring Renoir, Monet and Rodin. The idea was to use it as a basis for a drawing or drawings of these artists.

There were some really nice results. Here they are.

by Steve. Despite the tonal touches, very much a line drawing. The tones are not really allowed much of a look in. I would be happier for instance if the nose was defined by tone rather than lines.
by Maria. A nice tonal portrait – and tone was after all the idea of this session. Judging it as a portrait, I have two immediate concerns: that there is a very long gap between eye and nostril, and that the eye is not at all sunk into the eye socket. If it is any consolation, these seem to be very common errors.
