Phil in quick poses


A series of two- and three-minute poses by Phil, and the idea was to try to produce clear, confident lines by rehearsing each mark in the mind before committing the pencil. The laconic examples by Kathy and Rod (above) were exemplary.

Being consistently relaxed when doing this sort of drawing requires practice. This sketch by David starts with a wonderfully assured line on the left but finishes with some uncertainty on the right:
