Meanwhile…

Some drawings by some of the more semi-detached members of Dudlow Drawing.

There are so many groups, events and sessions, on-line and off, to stimulate drawing now, creating a really lively community of artists here in Merseyside.

GEORGE: Now it’s autumn and getting colder I guess I can call this (above) ‘Memories of Summer’. Watercolour with some ink work.

MARIA: As my eyes don’t work as well as they used to, I work from my imagination, memories, good and bad, and observations, ideas and what I think of as inner self portraits.

DAVID: We painted Erich Remarque yesterday at Turner’s painting School. Author of All quiet on the Western Front an anti-war book and 1930 film.In the final scene a soldier gets killed by a sniper while reaching for a butterfly in his trench … a very strong moment in film history.

Urban Sketching sessions occur once a month in Liverpool and is very popular despite the vagaries of weather. This month, Steve organised it and the venue was the Cains Brewery area.

GEORGE: Got home and realised I’d missed out the Cains Brewery signs, so a bit more tinkering. Thanks Steve for organising, a surprise extra day of summer!

Steve organised the Urban Sketching session this month, but only got drawing himself after the session had ended. Looks like he’s having lunch outside Northern Lights (I recognise that pepsi can). And that’s surely George’s bag of art materials and folding seat…

That pepsi can again…

You’re never far from a coffee and sandwich with urban sketching. So different from those spartan plein air landscape situations.
