Amber in a setting, by Sara

The setting, with cushions, mirror and lampstand creating a set of distinct shapes against which Amber gave us a number of 15-20-minute poses.

The set-up encouraged a more graphic approach, emphasising outlines and areas rather than tone and shadow.

Sara did further work on all her sketches, producing a set of finished compositions with exactly the graphic qualities the subject required.

These pictures are particularly impressive because they explore – successfully – several different potential approaches.
